Get in touch

So, you've made it to university.

New city, new people, new freedom — it's a lot.

Nobody warns you just how much changes all at once.

So suddenly you're figuring out how to do your own laundry, cook actual meals, manage your money, and keep on top of deadlines - all while trying to make friends, find your feet socially, and work out who you even are outside of home.

That's a huge amount to deal with.

For some people, university life feels exciting and liberating. But for a lot of students, it can also feel overwhelming, isolating, or just... really hard.

If you've been feeling anxious, low, stuck, or like you're not quite coping — you're not alone. What you're experiencing is normal and there's nothing wrong with you.

Sometimes, though, it's difficult to talk to the people closest to you about how you're really feeling. Maybe you don't want to worry your family. Maybe you're not sure your friends would understand. Maybe you're not even sure how to put it into words yourself.

That's where I come in.

I'm Natalie, a UKCP-trained and BACP-registered psychotherapist, and I work specifically with university students.

I offer confidential online therapy sessions, so you can talk from wherever you feel comfortable — your room, your campus, wherever works for you.

If you think you'd like to give it a try, we can start with a trial session just to see if it feels like a good fit.

No pressure, no commitment — just a conversation.

Empowering Minds

The type of therapy I provide is compassionate and effective. It is specifically designed with the intention of empowering clients to feel comfortable within themselves and to learn how to love and embrace exactly who they are.

Who are you? Who am I?

Why having a sense of who you are is so important

As we move through time and space, our identity begins to develop and we start to gain a better understanding of who we are as a person. Having a sense of knowing who you are is crucial to your wellbeing as this information provides us with certainty and stability when times get tough. For this reason, I offer clients the opportunity to explore their identity in therapy. Even having just a small amount of certainty about who you are can help harness the personal power you need to reconnect back to yourselves and to others.

A little bit about me

I have two daughters, one at university and one who lives with me in Hertfordshire. I love 80's music and cooking, so cooking to 80's music brings me a lot of joy! I also enjoy being close to nature and walking in the woods. I love going to the theatre, exhibitions, or listening to interesting people give talks. We learn so much from others. I have a strong sense of who I am as a person and this enables me to help other people explore and understand themsleves a little bit better.

I'm a therapist, but I'm also just a normal person! This is what I sometimes look like.... :)

    Frequently Asked Questions

Please email natalie@thereconnectionclub.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Therapy can benefit anyone who feels as if they are struggling with a mental health challenge or looking to improve their overall emotional well-being.

Having worked in private practice, and with the mental health charity MIND for a number of years, I have supported adult clients of all ages and backgrounds.

I have chosen to specialise in supporting young adults at university, however, I am still open to supporting others.

If you are the parent of a university student, perhaps struggling to adjust to your child leaving home, and feel that you would benefit from therapy sessions yourself, I would be more than happy to support you.

Please note: I am unable to support two or more members of the same family at the same time as there would be a conflict of interest.

I am a relational integrative psychotherapist.

    Relational -

Basically, this means is that I am able to build a strong relationship with my client very quickly, and it is the relationship between the two of us that provides a foundation for our work together.

    Integrative psychotherapy -

I use a variety of different therapeutic techniques to cater for the individual needs of each client. In my opinion, no single therapeutic approach works for all people.

There are several schools of therapeutic thought that I draw from.

These are mainly, but not exclusive to ….

    · Humanistic (or what some may refer to as person-centred)

    · Relational psychodynamic - Attachment theory

    · Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

    · Internal family systems (IFS)

    · Existential concepts accompanied by Identity exploration.

By nature I have a genuinely warm and nurturing personality.

I am very down to earth and comfortable in my own skin which has the benefit of putting people at ease very quickly. I accept people exactly as they are without any judgement. This way of interpersonal relating supports people in a way that enables them to feel safe in revealing their true and authentic self to me in our sessions. When people reconnect to themselves, they reinforce their own positive self-concept which in turn empowers them to grow towards reaching their full potential.

Anxiety, stress, depression, personality disorders, self-esteem issues, social anxiety, abuse, complex trauma, ADHD,  sexuality uncertainty, terminal illness, sexual abuse, domestic violence, PTSD, self harm, suicidal ideation, drug use, neglect, attachment issues, anger, addiction, loneliness, grief, OCD, brain damage, reclusive tendencies, relationship issues. This is not a complete list. You can talk to me about anything.

    I offer a completely non-judgemental, safe space.

I am a very down to earth person.

There is absolutely nothing you could say to me that would shock me.

There is ususally a very good reason as to why someone feels a certain way. In therapy we look to explore issues underlying the client's presenting symptoms. Therapy is a collaborative process and in accordance with the pluralistic way in which I work, I will periodically check in to ensure that we are remaining mindful of your therapeutic goals. I will closely monitor your progress, discuss with you what you feel is working and what isn't, and will look to alter my approach accordingly.

Where significant trauma is involved, at times therapy can feel like its one step forward and two steps back. Hang on in there, things don't stay the same. They change. They can get better.

Therapy is not a magic pill unfortunately. It is unlikely that a client's issues will disappear overnight. However, there is every possibility that a person could start to feel so much better after our first session. It can be such a big relief to feel seen, heard, understood, and supported by someone.

I have a master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling and over a decade of practical experience working as a therapist.

I have worked in private practice and as a volunteer therapist.

I studied at Regents' university in London, specifically because it has an excellent reputation, and it is also considered to be 'THE' leading training institution for Psychotherapy qualifications in the UK.

Throughout this extremely extensive 4-year training program, I worked with clients through the mental health charity MIND as well as the Hertfordshire based charity Family Lives.

The master’s course I studied was designed by the UKCP (The UK Council for Psychotherapy), which is one of the leading organisations for psychotherapists in the UK. I am also a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

In the first therapy session, we would discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and goals for treatment. We will also talk about your medical history and any current symptoms that are being experienced.

Clients don't have to dress up for our sessions. Many students will speak to me from the privacy, convenience and comfort of their own bedrooms. All I ask is that my client's have a safe, confidential space where they feel they can speak freely.

     1. In the beginning stages of therapy, I collaborate with my client to discuss their unique and highly individual reasons as to why they may be feeling disconnected from themselves in some way. This exploration will be an ongoing discussion.

    2. After establishing a starting point, my therapeutic objective is then to engage and empower my client’s sense of agency. I do this by helping them to gain a strong sense of knowing who they are. Having this knowledge tends to anchor people and assist with the regulation of their emotions. A reduction of anxiety creates greater stability.

    3. Alongside integrative psychotherapeutic techniques, I also use solution-focused coaching methods. The lessons your child will learn in our sessions will have ongoing benefits. I equip all my clients with a psychological toolbox that can be repeatedly used throughout their lifetime to manage difficult emotions in the future.

Each therapy session lasts for one hour and costs £85.00

If you, the client, does not attend the session they have booked or wishes to end the session sooner than the hour allocated to them they are at liberty to do so....however, the fee for the hour set aside for the session will still be charged at the agreed rate of £85.00.

Payment for sessions is required prior to each session.

Cancellation terms apply. Should you decide to proceed with therapy, these terms can be found on the initial therapy contract.

Traditionally, therapy sessions take place on the same day at the same time every week.

However, this arrangement may not suit all people. I am very happy to be flexible and book sessions in around the days and times that work best for my clients. The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs, goals, and financial situation.

Therapy is tailored to the needs of each client and can continue for as little or as long as deemed necessary. The number of sessions and the frequency of sessions can be discussed so that the expectations of client and therapist are considered.

It is advisable for clients to have one hour, weekly sessions until they feel that their symptoms have become manageable. Thereafter, some clients may decide to reduce to once fortnightly sessions, or take a break from therapy in the knowledge that they can come back as and when needed. Some clients might decide to move to three weekly sessions or monthly check-in sessions. There is no precriptive route for therapy. Each persons needs will be different.

Clients have the flexibility to decide which course of action is best for them.

One off sessions are also available.

Comments from past and current clients

I used to stay in my room and cry a lot.

I don't do that anymore. Now I have ways of managing my anxiety. I didn't expect to enjoy therapy as much as I did, I feel like it gave me my life back.

I've spoken to my flat mates about some of the things I've learned in therapy. So, not only has therapy helped me to understand how to reduce and manage my own anxiety, it's helped me to help my friends too.

Therapy with Natalie has helped me so much in just one year. She's helped me gain so much confidence and reduce my anxiety but also so much more. Natalie has been a breath of fresh air. I look forward to our sessions.

Thank you for teaching me how to reduce my stress levels. I feel so much better than I used to, actually I feel like a different person. I feel more confident too.

The best thing about therapy was having someone to talk to outside of my family who didn't judge me. Learning to be kind to myself and how to love myself has made things much better with my family.

Thank you for your kindness Natalie, you were so easy to talk to and helped me so much. Therapy with you was a very positive experience, one that I will never forget. Thank you again, I am very grateful to you.
